With the restriction on group riding now lifted to some extent four members decided to ride to Yalding Lees to visit Teapot Island. The weather was kind to them apart from a slight shower as they were passing through Hunton and contending with a moderate westerly wind.
Liz Grundy drove into Ashford to meet with Bob Burden, Alyson Nye and Sue Spice. Leaving Ashford at 09.00 they took a fairly direct route to Headcorn via Pluckley Thorn and Smarden before stopping at the Kingsbury Coffee Lounge for welcome refreshments.
Their route continued via Hawkenbury, Babylon Lane, Linton, Hunton and Yalding to Yalding Lees where they were joined by Dave Elcombe who rode down from his home near Maidstone. It was great for everyone to catch up once again. It was a bonus to everyone to find Teapot Island serving take away refreshments.
We left via Laddingford, where Dave pointed out to them the extent of the recent floods. Just after Laddingford, Dave left them to take a hilly route back to his home. The four then continued via Collier Street, Marden Thorn, Staplehurst and Frittenden for a roadside stop for refreshment which Alyson had prepared.
Suitably refreshed the group returned via Headcorn Aerodrome, Romden Castle, Tuesnoad and Great Chart totalling about 56 miles.
