Sunday 24 April 2016

On what must have been one of the coldest late April days on record three members from the club, Alyson Nye, Brenda Davies and Bob Burden, took the 08.11 train from Ashford to Hastings to take part in the Hastings Castles ride in aid of the RNLI and St Michaels Hospice.

All decided on the 25-mile route which took them to Pevensey Castle via the seafront at St Leonards before opting to turn onto the A259 to Glynde Gap where they returned to the cycle route, thus missing a section of the cycle way which is unsuitable for road bikes. After the first check at Bexhill the route continued through Cooden Beech to Pevensey Castle where refreshments were available and then retracing the outward route back to the Lifeboat Station at Hastings.

Unfortunately, the cold weather made it very difficult to socialize at the end of the event so it was back to the Station for a hot drink and the next available train back to Ashford.
