Le Carré de Vallées 2017

Sunday 28 May 2017

Four riders from the club took part in the event this year starting and finishing as always at Le Vivier, Bois-en-Ardres.

Bob Burden and Alyson Nye decided to have six days in this area which is so often overlooked by many being so close to Calais but the riding for the touring cyclist is superb. Luckily the weather was excellent for the whole six days.

On Friday (26 May) it was decided we would ride one of our favourite circuits taking in the Vallee le Hem, while on this circuit we twice were able to see the London to Paris ride pass, which was made special as it included several riders from the PMR@Toachim House club, although their efforts did not prevent us from stopping at the next bar.

On the Saturday we were joined by Keith Burden and Juvenille member Josie Burden to take a ride on the Rand-Rail at NIELLES LES BLEQUIN a fun morning and a must for a bit of cycling fun. If you are not familiar with this I suggest you go to https://www.rando-rail.com/

On Sunday it was thanks to our hosts that we had an early breakfast and made an early start for the Carre de Vallees ride as always excellently organized by Les Amis Cyclos de L’Ardresis. We decided it would be good for all of us to go for the 25 km route which took some outstanding lanes through Louches, Grasse Payelle, Zutkerque and Nortkerque returning into the North end of the Lakes.

Waiting for us was the usual beer and Hot Dog and some outstanding Cycling company.

Roll on 2018!
